What is Remember Me Thursday?
This is an important day designated to abandoned animals in need of adoption. We use this special day to put a spotlight on those animals in need of a loving home, who were left behind and living their days in the shelters. This is such an important day!
We talk about rescue animals, but do we talk enough about those left behind? I think not.
I am so excited to share with you ways that you can help this special organization that is promoting this event, Remember Me Thursday. The event is taking place THIS coming Thursday (09/28/17). Their website has a great list of ideas of ways to get involved…
How to Participate
- Use the hashtag #RememberTheRescue on #RememberMeThursday and share pictures of how you remember and shine a light on orphan pets with your own rescue pets.
2. Add your rescue pet photo on the #RememberTheRescue Photo Wall for a chance to win funds, food, and toys for a shelter or rescue that you love.
3. Invite others to spread the word!
The more we spread awareness, the more things can change. Milo was from a family who couldn’t keep him, but I don’t really consider him a “rescue”. He never got the shelter experience, or without a home. Benji on the other hand, had the whole treatment. He was found wondering the streets, matted up, dental work needing to be done, hernia that had to be removed and all.
He has changed my life.
I’ve always been a strong believer in rescuing, but he really showed me what it meant to rescue. To give someone a home that never had one, or maybe worse… those that had one and were left behind.
If you are considering adding an addition to your family, please check your local shelters, humane societies, and rescue organizations. There are so many animals that need homes, so many lives lost because no one came in time. Let’s fix this epidemic! One animal at a time…
